THE PREDICTION

Former world number four Bianca Andreescu handed Marta Kostyuk a first-set bagel on Friday before coming through a much tighter second-set tiebreak. The current world number 42 looks the clear favourite to lift her first title since the biggest moment of her career so far in 2019, where she won the US Open as a 19 year old after taking two Masters titles earlier that year. Andreescu is coming up to a first full season on tour without any serious injury issues for the first time since her victory in New York and it will be fascinating to see how she can improve mentally by claiming a title, although there are still two matches to go. Former top 30 player Lesia Tsurenko has beaten two seeds on the spin now in Hua Hin and the Ukrainian proved last summer that she can still be far better than her current ranking outside the top 100 suggests. Tsurenko claimed victory in their first meeting way back in 2018, although unsurprisingly via an injury to Andreescu, so backing the Canadian to return the favour as the outright winner looks the most sensible option here.
