Two defeats from three since on tour are understandable after such a come down but rapturous home support should help him through this opener against former world number nine Fabio Fognini, who will likely not respond well to the partisan atmosphere. 35-year-old Fognini has won just one of his six matches so far this season as he continues to drift further from his previous heights but it would not be a surprise to see him take a set out of spite more than anything.
