THE PREDICTION

World number 302 Beibit Zhukayev beat Stefano Napolitano in straight sets on Thursday to claim the first tour-level win of his career. The 22-year-old has nothing to lose in this biggest match of his career against world number 14 Karen Khachanov and that makes him dangerous, particularly as Khachanov may be struggling for motivation after finally breaking his duck with a first ATP title in five years claimed at the Zhuhai Championships. It is likelier, though, that 27-year-old Khachanov is dialled in and ready for a deep run in Shanghai after his run to the Men’s Doubles in Beijing last week made up for his early exit in the singles. The Russian has been battling to stay fit on tour all season long but more often than not found something like his best level when able to play. Back Khachanov to win in straight sets.
