World number 11 Barbora Krejcikova will be eager to make a statement in this second meeting with rising star Mirra Andreeva after losing their second round match, via an injury, at Wimbledon back in July. That was the first of a four-match losing streak for the 27-year-old before she burst into form to win the San Diego Open two weeks ago, beating a resurgent Sofia Kenin in the final to lift her second title this season, and she could be one to watch on a four-match winning streak. World number 62 Andreeva went on to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon but a 3-3 record since then is at least proof that the 16-year-old wunderkind is human. Back-to-back straight-set wins in qualifying should see her battle-hardened on her China Open debut but she will find a much tougher version of the Czech she beat so handily in July. Back Andreeva to earn at least a set, with Krejcikova’s last two matches seeing three sets, to leave the victor up to chance.
