This will be the third meeting this season between world number 12 Daria Kasatkina and number 18 Barbora Krejcikova, with a win apiece so far. Kasatkina beat the Czech on her way to the final at Adelaide 2 back in January before an oddly flat defeat to Belinda Bencic became the first in a series of erratic results in 2023. The 26-year-old enjoyed a walkover to the semi-finals in Zhengzhou after Ons Jabeur was forced to withdraw from the tournament but Krejcikova will also bring some extra rest to the equation after Lesia Tsurenko retired injured after losing their first set on Friday. Notably, Kasatkina has earned sets in both of their meetings this season but Krejcikova brings the better recent form into what could end up a thrilling battle on Saturday.
