This could be the match of the entire China Open if newly crowned world number one Aryna Sabalenka and former number four Sofia Kenin bring their battling best on Sunday. 25-year-old Sabalenka has not played since losing the US Open final to Coco Gauff from a set up but she will likely hit the ground running here in Beijing with an excellent record on the Asian swing, with four of her first five WTA titles coming in China in 2018 and 2019. 24-year-old Kenin has fought tooth and nail this season to bring herself back up to word number 31 here, coming in hot from a run to the semi-finals of the Guadalajara Masters last week. Kenin has beaten the likes of Jelena Ostapenko, Leylah Fernandez and Veronika Kudermetova in recent weeks to look a real threat here and she stunned Sabalenka in their previous match this season, straight-sets at the Rome Masters. Sabalenka leads their head-to-head 2-1, though, with two victories in China back in 2018. Take the top seed to win outright with three sets a distinct possibility.
