THE PREDICTION

World number 65 Arthur Rinderknech will b well-backed on Court 14 on Monday as one of France’s best hopes at some home success this year in Paris. The 26-year-old reached a first ATP tour final earlier this season at Adelaide 2 and he would likely have beaten Thanasi Kokkinakis anywhere else but the Aussie’s home town. Rinderknech has largely struggled since, apart from a run to the semi-finals of the Qatar Open, and he still awaits a first win on clay. World number 41 has been in similar form this year, although he went one further by winning his first ATP title at the Montpellier Open with a brilliant upset over Alexander Zverev. On clay, and at his best, Rinderknech could be backed to come through here as he leads Bublik 2-0 in their head-to-head. The home crowd should pull him over the line but there is little form to work on here and that makes taking the Frenchman to win at least two sets as the likelier of two capable winners a suitably cautious move.
