World number 43 Anastasia Potapova came back from a set down to beat Marina Bassols Ribera on Tuesday to get her Lyon Open campaign underway. The 21-year-old claimed her maiden WTA title at the Istanbul Cup on clay last season but she possesses a solid game for all surfaces and she should be considered one of the contenders for the title this week. World number 107 Clara Burel beat Ana Bogdan in straight sets on Tuesday in a pretty convincing result but Potapova should prove a tougher test than Bogdan in indoor hardcourt conditions. Burel can be a lot better than her current ranking suggests and three sets would not be a surprise in this first meeting between the two, particularly with the home crowd behind the Frenchwoman. Back Potapova to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
