THE PREDICTION

World number 10 has twice come back from a set down to reach the quarter-finals of the China Open, fighting back against Diego Schwartzman and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to maintain a six-match winning streak from his title claimed in Chengdu earlier this week. The 26-year-old won the Hamburg Open in late July to claim a first title since his horrific ankle injury suffered at Roland-Garros last summer and he looks set for a strong finish to 2023 on his favoured hardcourts. World number 23 Nicolas Jarry beat Zverev in the semi-finals of the Geneva Open en-route to his second title of the season but Zverev returned the favour soon after in Halle to lead their head-to-head 3-2. 27-year-old Jarry fought back well to beat in-form Matteo Arnaldi on Saturday, backing-up an excellent upset over Stefanos Tsitsipas, but this first meeting with Zverev on hardcourts should just edge away from him. Take Zverev to win with three sets likely.
