Two of the more unpredictable players on tour meet here for what could be one of the most entertaining, and perhaps longest, matches on Tuesday. World number 32 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina grabbed two decent wins this week before defeat to eventual runner-up Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarter-finals of Adelaide 2 for a reasonable start to 2023. The 23-year-old finished runner-up to Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Monte-Carlo Masters last season but failed to really push on from there considering he reached the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros on his favoured clay the year before. World number 36 Alexander Bublik remains the biggest enigma on tour but the maverick Kazakh possesses plenty of raw talent that he can, occasionally, utilise well to beat almost anybody on his day – proven by his stunning victory over Alexander Zverev to win his first ATP title at the Montpellier Open last February.
