World number two Naomi Osaka came back from a set down against Coco Gauff to reach the round of 16 at the Cincinnati Open. Osaka vs Gauff already looks like a rivalry for the ages on the court that should give us many more blockbuster matches to come but at this moment in time it is good to see Osaka recovered from the disappointment of defeat at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The 23-year-old will be gearing up to defend her US Open title next month and a first meeting with world number 65 Jil Teichmann next looks like a very winnable route through to the quarter-finals. 24-year-old Teichmann has won both her matches so far in very convincing fashion but Osaka is a clear step up and the gulf in quality should tell fairly early on.
