THE PREDICTION

World number 18 Simona Halep conceded just two games in a mis-match quarter-final with fellow Romanian Jaqueline Cristian on Friday. The 30-year-old is coming back to her best ability slowly but surely after a long injury lay-off earlier this year but she should re-join the top 10 before the year ends if she continues like this. World number 55 Marta Kostyuk is set to reach a new career-high WTA world ranking after comprehensively beating Emma Raducanu on Friday. The Ukrainian is only a year older than the US Open champion at 19 and definitely part of the future star conversation alongside the likes of Raducanu, Leylah Fernandez and Clara Tauson.

Halep only recently beat Kostyuk in straight sets at Indian Wells earlier this month but their second meeting looks set to be a lot tougher for the Romanian. The top seed remains the favourite to come through here but Kostyuk’s momentum will be tough to handle after beating tennis’ new star Raducanu. Take Halep to win outright with this well capable of seeing a decider.
