18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz will set a new career-high of 35th in the ATP world rankings on Monday as he enters the Paris Masters full of real promise. His incredible run to the semi-finals of the Vienna Open saw him lose to eventual champion Alexander Zverev on Saturday but three impressive wins over Dan Evans, Andy Murray and world number seven Matteo Berrettini puts his active ability well within the top 20. The Spaniard should be challenging that ranking and further next season but he still has plenty to say for 2021 with a kind opening draw against home favourite Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The Frenchman found some excellent singles form over the summer but he has not won a tour-level match since the Winston-Salem Open in August. Take Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
