THE PREDICTION
Jeremy Chardy comes in here from the relative cold after playing just seven matches on tour last season and winning only two of them. The Frenchman is a consummate professional, of course, but has not won a tour-level match for almost a year now and it could take some time for the 33-year-old to get back into his groove. Radu Albot, on the other hand, collected one of the best results of his career at the last tournament of the year when he beat tournament-favourite Denis Shapovalov in the round of 16 of the Sofia Open. The Moldovan has chosen to play in Antalya rather than at Delray Beach, the scene of his only ATP title win to date, in an interesting move that probably has more to do with covid-19 than tennis but he could well take his momentum from last season forwards into January. Chardy and Albot have not played each other since 2017, in which the Frenchman won both encounters, but a hard-working Albot can win this encounter in three sets.
