THE PREDICTION
Jannik Sinner started his Sofia Open campaign in excellent fashion with a straight-sets victory over a tough opponent in Marton Fucsovics. The 19-year-old traded blows with the Hungarian throughout but making five of a staggering 18 break points shows just how explosive the Italian is. He will face Marc-Andrea Huesler for the first time when they meet in the round of 16, with the Swiss becoming the latest lucky loser to utilise that opportunity to beat a seeded player. Huesler came in last minute for Stefano Travaglia but played well to beat Nikoloz Basilashvili, whose 2020 season could not end quick enough, via a deciding tiebreak. Huesler has nothing to lose in this match but if Fucsovics fell to Sinner’s force in straight sets then the Swiss player will have few answers for this test. Sinner should reach the quarter-finals without dropping a set.
