World number 55 Marton Fucsovics beat Jannik Sinner at the turn of the year in the second round of an excellent Australian Open campaign for the Hungarian but the tables should turn here. In what is almost certainly the pick of the first round matches in Sofia, criminally underrated Fucsovics has the thankless task of trying to stop 19-year-old Sinner from making headlines this week as the Italian has what it takes to make a deep run. The result will rely heavily on the Italian starlet’s fitness after he was forced off the court at the Vienna Open almost two weeks ago but the French Open quarter-finalist had been in electrifying form since the re-start of the season and will be aiming to finish off 2020 strongly ahead of what should be a career-year next season. Fucsovics is the epitome of “no pushover” and this could well go to three but the Hungarian is not at his best right now and should likelier be overpowered by Sinner in straight-sets.
