32-year-old Marin Cilic beat Felix Auger-Aliassime last week at the Paris Masters in a show of burgeoning form that should put fear in is opponents here in Sofia. The Croatian lost “well” to 2020’s newest rising start Ugo Humbert in the round of 16 of last week’s Masters event and has a real shot of winning his first title here since his Queens’ Club trophy in 2018. The Sofia Open’s eighth seed will face Czech wildcard Jonas Forejtek for the world number 399’s first tour-level match this season. The 19-year-old should put in a suitably spirited performance but this should be a relatively comfortable straight-sets win for Cilic.
