Egor Gerasimov has enjoyed some decent wins since the re-start of the tennis season, not least over Dusan Lajovic at the US Open and Lloyd Harris at the Astana Open the week before last. He comes into this match with Viktor Troicki as the favourite and will have enjoyed the freedom of making the main the draw without having to play the qualifiers. However, this match is somewhat up in the air as his Serbian opponent is a pretty unreliable player who can stull turn it on at 34 years old and may benefit from his route through the qualifiers against Gerasimov. The pair have not met before but Troicki’s two recent wins over Evgeny Donskoy, a player who got the better of Gerasimov at the St. Petersburg Open last month, could suggest this match-up suits the veteran and Troicki has a chance at the upset here. However, Gerasimov is the sensible pick and should be the one reaching the second round.
