THE PREDICTION
World number 19 Milos Raonic was tested by Marcos Giron in their round of 16 match but got into gear in the tiebreak before cruising through the second set. The Canadian looks near his best and smashed down another 17 aces against Giron to add to the 29 he made in the previous rounds but whether or not his body holds out is always a mystery. On the other side of the court, there is 22-year-old Ugo Humbert with the world at his feet after he backed up a stellar defeat of Stefanos Tsitsipas on Tuesday with a win over former Grand Slam champion Marin Cilic. The Frenchman will start to rue the lack of fans here in Paris after his efforts but does not seem ready to go out of the tournament as he continues to battle past foes to the death. Cilic was his third straight three-set match of this campaign and he has less than 24 hours to recover before he faces the lightning serve of Raonic.
Following that pattern seems reasonable enough, and this match going to three sets seems likely, but a winner will be up to the abilities of young Humbert to cope with Milos Raonic in his groove. Considering his past few weeks, Humbert has what it takes to beat the Canadian here and his left-handedness (and incredible backhand) should make defending against the serve a little easier. The youngster just edges this encounter in what could be another long match on centre court.
