In a huge double blow to the Dragons’ very slim finals hopes, the club have provided updates on a star duo. Edge forward Jaydn Su’A will miss up to a month after suffering a medial ligament injury from a hip drop tackle, while promising forward Toby Couchman has been ruled out for the season (shoulder surgery). Sua’s absence will be felt on their left edge in both attack and defence, with Michael Molo promoted from the bench to fill the void. Hame Sele comes in on the bench.

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Canberra Raiders prediction

The St George Illawarra Dragons (12th) are in a tailspin. Their defence has been a particular concern, and their most recent game was a high-scoring 38-32 defeat to the North Queensland Cowboys

The Canberra Raiders (1st) are the competition's benchmark. They sit proudly atop the NRL ladder and are riding a nine-game winning streak. After a period of grinding out narrow victories, their last two wins have been emphatic, culminating in a 44-18 thrashing of the Newcastle Knights in Round 21.

Dragons winger Tyrell Sloan has been a standout performer in a difficult season. He sits second on the NRL's try-scoring list with an impressive 15 tries.

Canberra has won seven away games on the bounce. Canberra has a huge advantage, winning the last five straight encounters. However, when they met a month ago in Round 18, the Raiders only scraped home with a 28-24 victory.

On paper, this is a mismatch. However, the close result in their last meeting suggests this may not be a blowout. The Raiders' class should see them home, but the Dragons have a blueprint to stay competitive
