Shelbourne vs Linfield prediction
In the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, Shelbourne pulled off a surprise 2-1 aggregate victory over Linfield, just a few weeks after the surprise departure of Damien Duff, who was replaced by former Bolton Wanderers defender Joey O’Brien.
Since then, Shelbourne suffered a 4-0 aggregate loss to Qarabag in that competition before a defeat to Rijeka in the UEFA Europa League in a game in which they had won the first-leg in Croatia. Linfield, under the management of David Healy, eased past Zalgiris Vilnius in the UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round before a 3-2 aggregate victory over Faroese outfit Vikingur Gota.
Shelbourne have proven themselves already capable of avoiding defeat to Linfield, and this one is expected to be a low-scoring first-leg encounter in Dublin this midweek.
