This, for the second time this year, is a meeting between Scotland and Greece at Hampden Park of huge significance and importance this week.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – BBC / US – FOX Sports

How to watch online: UK – BBC iPlayer / US – Disney+

Key stats

  • The head-to-head record in four previous international matches between Scotland and Greece is level with two wins each. They have already met twice this year over two legs in March in the UEFA Nations League promotion/relegation play-offs with Scotland winning 1-0 in Greece in the first leg and Greece winning 3-0 in the return fixture in Scotland.
  • Scotland have lost only two of their last 19 World Cup qualifying matches (W12 D5) with seven wins in the nine most recent.
  • Scotland have kept five clean sheets in their last six World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Scotland are unbeaten in their last 11 home matches in World Cup qualifying groups (W8 D3). This excludes their play-off defeat against Ukraine in June 2022 (L 1-3).
  • Greece have won only one of their last five World Cup qualifying matches (D1 L3).

Scotland vs Greece prediction

During the March international break, Scotland won in Athens before a 3-0 victory for the Greeks in the second-leg of their UEFA Nations League League A/League B promotion/relegation playoff place.

Greece require a result like that here after their 3-0 loss at home to Denmark last month, a few days after they hammered Belarus by five goals to one. Scotland, on the other hand, shared a goalless draw with Denmark in Copenhagen before the Tartan Army then eased past the Belarusians by two goals to nil in Hungary.

Greece have a strong defence and an abundance of emerging attacking talent, and they have shown their capabilities on the counter against the Scots but, when it matters most, Steve Clarke’s side will fancy their chances of taking advantage of home advantage in Glasgow.

Scotland vs Greece tip: Double chance – Scotland to win or draw
