THE PREDICTION
Toulon started their Champions Cup campaign off well by beating an out of sorts Sale Sharks side 26-14 but covid-19 complications saw their away match at Scarlets last weekend cancelled and handed them a default loss. It remains to be seen if this match will go ahead and it could be worth waiting until the day before for this match, and a few others in Rugby Union right now, to be confirmed. If it goes ahead, it should be a fantastic spectacle. Toulon’s starting 15 will be under much scrutiny with the covid-19 in their camp and Clermont Auvergne come off the back of two interesting displays in the Champions Cup themselves. Clermont beat Bristol Bears, whom beat Toulon in last season’s Challenge Cup final, in a ding-dong 38-51 clash but then lost closely at home to an impressive Munster last weekend. This match should be much closer than it appears to be given credit for and Clermont could pull off a big away victory here if the hosts are in any sort of disarray. The match looks set to go over 40 points and it could be worth stopping there, but Clermont look good right now and could win the occasion here come the final whistle.
