THE TEAM NEWS
WARRINGTON WOLVES
- It has been a pitiful start to Daryl Powell’s tenure as Warrington Wolves head coach and his side hit a new low as they were comfortably defeated by Hull KR last time out, largely because of a terrible opening 20-minute spell.
- The Wolves found themselves 20-0 down in as many minutes and were unable to recover but Stefan Ratchford’s return will be a boost for this one, although George Williams and Oliver Holmes both drop out.
21-man squad: 1 Stefan Ratchford, 2 Josh Charnley, 3 Peter Mata’utia, 4 Toby King, 5 Matty Ashton, 6 Gareth Widdop, 8 Joe Philbin, 9 Daryl Clark, 10 Mike Cooper, 11 Ben Currie, 13 Jack Hughes, 14 Jason Clark, 15 Joe Bullock, 16 Danny Walker, 17 Matt Davis, 18 Billy Magoulias, 19 Robbie Mulhern, 22 Josh Thewlis, 23 Connor Wrench, 24 Ellis Longstaff, 25 Ellis Robson
Unavailable: James Harrison, Greg Minikin, George Williams, Oliver Holmes
Questionable: Stefan Ratchford
SALFORD RED DEVILS
- Salford Red Devils have won just one of their last six games in all competitions after they were beaten by Wakefield Trinity in their latest Super League encounter but they will believe they can capitalise on the woes of their rivals in this contest.
- The Red Devils have been guilty of allowing some soft tries so far this campaign but if they can find some defensive solidity, they could cause Warrington some problems in this one despite missing a handful of key players once again.
21-man squad: 1 Ryan Brierley, 2 Ken Sio, 4 Tim Lafai, 5 Joe Burgess, 6 Brodie Croft, 7 Marc Sneyd, 8 Sitaleki Akauola, 9 Andy Ackers, 10 Greg Burke, 13 Elijah Taylor, 14 Danny Addy, 15 King Vuniyayawa, 16 Ryan Lannon, 18 Chris Atkin, 19 Jack Ormondroyd, 20 Jack Wells, 21 Josh Johnson, 22 Rhys Williams, 26 Sam Luckley, 28 Deon Cross, 29 Alex Gerrard

THE PREDICTION
Warrington Wolves produced a woeful effort in their loss to Hull KR last time out as they went down to a fifth successive defeat in all competitions. The pressure is well and truly on Daryl Powell with his side not performing to the level they are capable of and if results do not pick up soon, his position could come under serious threat. Salford Red Devils are also struggling for form but will believe they can take advantage of Warrington’s issues. They have won just one of their last three Super League matches but the two losses during that run were close-run things so with the benefit of a +16.5 start on the handicap, the Red Devils can come out on top in that market but it remains to be seen if they can clinch the two competition points.
