THE TEAM NEWS

WAKEFIELD TRINITY

  • Wakefield Trinity earned what could prove to be a priceless victory as they produced a late fightback to force golden point against Hull FC last week before Jacob Miller slotted a drop goal to seal the win.
  • That success ended Wakefield’s six-game losing streak in Super League and saw them create a two-point cushion over Toulouse at the foot of the table, although the win did come at a cost with Reece Lyne picking up an ankle injury.

21-man squad: 1 Max Jowitt, 5 Tom Lineham, 6 Jacob Miller, 7 Mason Lino, 8 Eddie Battye, 9 Liam Hood, 10 Tinirau Arona, 11 Matty Ashurst, 12 Kelepi Tanginoa, 13 Jay Pitts, 14 Jordan Crowther, 15 Jai Whitbread, 16 James Batchelor, 17 Lee Gaskell, 21 Brad Walker, 22 Yusuf Aydin, 24 Harry Bowes, 27 Lewis Murphy, 30 Corey Hall, 34 Rob Butler, 35 David Fifita

WARRINGTON WOLVES

  • Warrington Wolves’ terrible season went from bad to worse as they were on the end of yet another humiliating loss as Leeds Rhinos put 40 points on them last week to condemn the Wolves to a fourth straight loss.
  • In three of those four defeats, the Wolves have conceded that total which is an alarming statistic but under-fire head coach Daryl Powell could be boosted by the arrival of Thomas Mikaele with the prop looking set to debut after signing from Wests Tigers.

21-man squad: 1 Stefan Ratchford, 4 Toby King, 5 Matty Ashton, 6 Gareth Widdop, 7 George Williams, 8 Joe Philbin, 9 Daryl Clark, 10 Mike Cooper, 11 Ben Currie, 12 Oliver Holmes, 14 Jason Clark, 15 Joe Bullock, 16 Danny Walker, 17 Matt Davis, 18 Billy Magoulias, 19 Robbie Mulhern, 22 Josh Thewlis, 23 Connor Wrench, 24 Ellis Longstaff, 32 Kyle Amor, 33 Thomas Mikaele

THE PREDICTION

Warrington Wolves continue to trend in the wrong direction and their wretched run of form showed no sign of improving as they suffered a heavy loss to Leeds Rhinos last week. The Wolves have won just two of their last 12 games in all competitions and now face a Wakefield Trinity side that will be in buoyant mood after ending their six-game winless run against Hull FC last week. Trinity earned back-to-back wins against the Wolves earlier in the season and with the pressure mounting on the visitors, it could be worth siding with the home side to get the better of their opponents once again, although they make more appeal with the aid of a +6.5 start on the handicap.
