THE TEAM NEWS

WAKEFIELD TRINITY

  • Wakefield Trinity were able to build on their brilliant win over Warrington Wolves in their last Super League outing by dumping the same opponents out of the Challenge Cup last week in what was another superb display.
  • Willie Poching’s side trailed 12-0 in last week’s contest but fought back to score 16 unanswered points to snatch the victory and they are boosted by the return of star winger Tom Johnstone for this contest as they aim to make it four straight wins in all competitions.

21-man squad: 1 Max Jowitt, 2 Tom Johnstone, 4 Reece Lyne, 6 Jacob Miller, 7 Mason Lino, 8 Eddie Battye, 9 Liam Hood, 10 Tinirau Arona, 11 Matty Ashirst, 12 Kelepi Tanginoa, 13 Jay Pitts, 14 Jordan Crowther, 15 Jai Whitbread, 16 James Batchelor, 19 Liam Kay, 21 Brad Walker, 22 Yusuf Aydin, 23 Sadiq Adebiyi, 24 Harry Bowes, 30 Corey Hall, 35 David Fifita

Unavailable: Bill Tupou, Lee Kershaw, Lee Gaskell, Tom Lineham, Thomas Minns

Questionable: Tom Johnstone

SALFORD RED DEVILS

  • Salford Red Devils were nilled by Wigan Warriors in their Challenge Cup last 16 clash last week in what was a disappointing showing after overcoming Leeds Rhinos in their latest league game.
  • The Red Devils could not get going in attack and proved to be their own worst enemies by spilling the ball when looking to build pressure but they will aim to put that behind them as quickly as possible and will hope the inclusion of Ken Sio and Dan Sarginson will aid their cause.

21-man squad: 1 Ryan Brierley, 2 Ken Sio, 4 Tim Lafai, 5 Joe Burgess, 6 Brodie Croft, 7 Marc Sneyd, 8 Sitaleki Akauola, 9 Andy Ackers, 10 Greg Burke, 13 Elijah Taylor, 15 King Vuniyayawa, 16 Ryan Lannon, 18 Chris Atkin, 19 Jack Ormondroyd, 21 Josh Johnson, 22 Rhys Williams, 23 Dan Sarginson, 26 Sam Luckley, 27 Amir Bourouh, 28 Deon Cross, 29 Alex Gerrard

THE PREDICTION

Wakefield Trinity host Salford Red Devils with the home side aiming to extend their winning streak. They have won their last three games in all competitions and will be confident of adding a fourth straight success as they take on a Red Devils side that were held without scoring a point in their Challenge Cup encounter with Wigan Warriors last week. The Red Devils are capable of responding here having performed well in their last Super League contest with Leeds Rhinos in which they claimed a third win of the season but Trinity will be on a real high after their exploits in the last couple of weeks and are favoured to record another victory.
