THE TEAM NEWS

SALFORD RED DEVILS

  • Salford Red Devils have unfortunate not to claim a couple of big scalps of late but they were able to end their losing streak with a win over Leeds Rhinos last week to finally produce a result their performances have deserved.
  • With a few players back in the side, the Red Devils looked comfortable in that game and will believe they can make it back-to-back wins here and there are unlikely to be many changes to the 17, although Greg Burke could return in place of King Vuniyayawa who has dropped out of the squad.

21-man squad: 1 Ryan Brierley, 2 Ken Sio, 3 Kallum Watkins, 4 Tim Lafai, 5 Joe Burgess, 6 Brodie Croft, 7 Marc Sneyd, 8 Sitaleki Akauola, 9 Andy Ackers, 10 Greg Burke, 13 Elijah Taylor, 14 Danny Addy, 16 Ryan Lannon, 17 Harvey Livett, 18 Chris Atkin, 19 Jack Ormondroyd, 24 Matt Costello, 25 Morgan Escare, 27 Amir Bourouh, 28 Deon Cross, 32 Tyler Dupree

Unavailable: Shane Wright, James Greenwood, Dan Sarginson, King Vuniyayawa

Questionable: Greg Burke

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

  • Castleford Tigers recorded their best win of the season to date as they nilled Hull KR last week to continue on their upward trajectory with Lee Radford’s side now winning five of their last six Super League contests.
  • Another win here would solidify the Tigers’ position in the top six and while they are unlikely to make many changes this week, they have been forced into one with prop Liam Watts handed a two-game ban so he will miss out.

21-man squad: 2 Derrell Olpherts, 4 Jake Mamo, 6 Jake Trueman, 7 Danny Richardson, 9 Paul McShane, 10 George Lawler, 11 Kenny Edwards, 12 Adam Milner, 13 Joe Westerman, 14 Nathan Massey, 15 George Griffin, 17 Mahe Fonua, 22 Daniel Smith, 23 Greg Eden, 24 Cheyse Blair, 25 Suaia Matagi, 26 Ryan Hampshire, 28 Brad Martin, 29 Sam Hall, 31 Gareth O’Brien, 33 Jason Qareqare

Unavailable: Jacques O’Neill, Callum McLelland, Sosaia Feki, Jordan Turner, Bureta Faraimo, Niall Evalds, Liam Watts, James Clare, Alex Sutcliffe

Questionable: Danny Richardson, Greg Eden

THE PREDICTION

This should be an entertaining clash between Salford Red Devils and Castleford Tigers with both teams coming into this having won their respective games last week. Salford got the better of Leeds Rhinos to end their losing run while Castleford got back to winning ways with a convincing victory over Hull KR, keeping them scoreless in the process. The Tigers’ recent run of five wins from six league games means they start as favourites here but the Red Devils have also been performing well despite not getting the results their efforts have deserved so whichever way this does go, expect the margin of victory to be 1-12 points.
