THE TEAM NEWS

HULL FC

  • Hull FC came agonisingly close to producing an excellent response to their embarrassing loss to Salford Red Devils as they pushed reigning champions St. Helens all the way last week.
  • A different bounce of the ball could have seen Hull claim the victory late on but that is now three successive losses for the Black and Whites, although their hopes of getting back to winning ways could be helped by the potential return of skipper Carlos Tuimavave and Liam Sutcliffe.

21-man squad: Hoy, Swift, Tuimavave, Sutcliffe, McIntosh, Clifford, Sao, Houghton, Satae, Savelio, Fash, Lovodua, Cator, Evans, Scott, Brown, Griffin, Litten, Gardiner, Taylor, Dwyer

Unavailable: Jake Trueman (Injured), Ben McNamara (Injured), Jordan Lane (Injured)

Questionable: Carlos Tuimavave, Liam Sutcliffe

LEIGH LEOPARDS

  • Leigh Leopards were unsuccessful in their attempts to make it three straight wins as they went down to Warrington Wolves last week.
  • The Leopards showed some quality with the ball in that contest but will need to be better defensively here if they are to make an immediate return to winning ways in this game with Hull where they will have Ben Reynolds back from a ban.

21-man squad: Hardaker, Briscoe, Chamberlain, Leutele, Charnley, Mellor, Lam, Amone, Ipape, Mulhern, Hughes, Asiata, Nakubuwai, Reynolds, Holmes, O’Brien, Davis, Nisbit, O’Donnell, Semanufagai, Shorrocks

Unavailable: Joe Wardle (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Hull FC will view this as a must-win game, even if it is just for their own peace of mind rather than aspirations for the season. They showed some real character last week to put their dreadful effort against Salford Red Devils behind them and produced a solid defensive display on the road against reigning champions St. Helens. Leigh Leopards will hope to make it four successive defeats for the Black and Whites but after they struggled defensively in defeat to Warrington Wolves, the home side will fancy their chances of building on last week’s performance and get back to winning ways.
