HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

  • Huddersfield Giants made it three straight wins in all competitions as they got the better of Wigan Warriors in their clash last week, doing what was required to claim the victory over the side they will meet in the Challenge Cup final.
  • Both teams rested a clutch of players for that contest with the Giants making five changes for this week’s game with Jermaine McGillvary, Chris Hill, Josh Jones and Sebastine Ikahihifo all recalled while Jack Cogger is back from a ban, although Theo Fages has been rested.

21-man squad: 2 Jermaine McGillvary, 3 Jake Wardle, 4 Ricky Leutele, 5 Ashton Golding, 6 Tui Lolohea, 8 Chris Hill, 9 Danny Levi, 10 Michael Lawrence, 11 Josh Jones, 13 Luke Yates, 14 Matty English, 15 Joe Greenwood, 16 Jack Cogger, 17 Owen Trout, 18 Sebastine Ikahihifo, 19 Adam O’Brien, 20 Oliver Wilson, 21 Leroy Cudjoe, 23 Oliver Russell, 25 Innes Senior, 29 Sam Hewitt

TOULOUSE

  • Toulouse secured just their second win in the Super League as they recorded what could turn out to be a priceless victory against Wakefield Trinity last week with that success ensuring they keep their relegation rivals within touching distance.
  • The French outfit took the lead through Olly Ashall-Bott’s late effort to seal the points and they will now hope to build on that performance with Corey Norman potentially set to make his debut after he was named in the 21-man squad.

21-man squad: 2 Latrell Schaumkel, 4 Mathieu Jussaume, 5 Paul Marcon, 6 Corey Norman, 7 Lucas Albert, 8 Romain Navarrete, 10 Harrison Hansen, 11 Andrew Dixon, 13 Anthony Marion, 14 Eloi Pelissier, 15 Maxime Puech, 18 Mitch Garbutt, 19 James Cunningham, 21 Chris Hankinson, 22 Gadwin Springer, 23 Justin Sangare, 25 Matty Russell, 27 Olly Ashall-Bott, 30 Maxime Stefani, 31 Tony Gigot, 35 Daniel Alvaro

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield Giants come into this clash with bottom side Toulouse on the back of a three-game winning run in all competitions and sitting in fourth in the table. It has been a solid start to the campaign for the Giants but they will want to avoid complacency here. They are likely to have one eye on next weekend’s Challenge Cup final, although they have named an almost full-strength squad so that should aid their quest for the two points. Toulouse earned just their second win of the year last week as they overcame Wakefield Trinity but this will be a much tougher assignment and the Giants should cover the -14 handicap in this one.
