- Salford Red Devils were unable to build on their Challenge Cup success over Widnes Vikings as they were on the end of another heavy loss in Super League with Catalans Dragons comfortably seeing them off in the south of France last week.
- Head coach Richard Marshall was left fuming with his side’s efforts in that game and has now lost Andy Ackers, Kallum Watkins and Elijah Taylor for this week’s game but he does at least have Greg Burke, James Greenwood and Krisan Inu back in contention as he goes in search of his first league win.

- Leigh Centurions were handed another big defeat as their tough reintroduction to Super League continued at the hands of Castleford Tigers last week and another loss lies in wait for them here unless they can make some huge improvements on that 52-16 hammering.
- The Centurions have shipped 116 points in their three league games so far, the most in the league, and their defensive woes could prove to be their downfall once again despite coming up against a Salford side that have struggled to post points.

THE PREDICTION
These two winless teams go head-to-head in a bid to get off the mark in Super League but for the loser, the writing could be on the wall for them even at this early stage of the campaign. Salford Red Devils have underwhelmed under new coach Richard Marshall and they have managed to score just 16 points in their three games so far. They have also allowed 106 points which is also a big concern with only Leigh Centurions conceding more. The defensive efforts of both teams will be under the microscope here but with Marshall laying into his side after last week’s loss to Catalans Dragons, their response will be interesting and they are expected to record a first league win here.
