- Salford Red Devils were outclassed by Super League champions St. Helens in their season opener last week but new head coach Richard Marshall will have been encouraged by what he saw in patches in that defeat.
- The Red Devils asked plenty of questions with the ball but were architects of their own downfall owing to some turnovers in poor positions which handed the initiative to Saints. In some positive news for this week’s clash, Andy Ackers could make his return from injury after he was named in the 21-man squad.

- Hull FC made an impressive start under new head coach Brett Hodgson with the Black and Whites comfortably dispatching a potentially dangerous Huddersfield Giants outfit but he will want to see even more from his side here.
- Hull controlled the game in difficult conditions with swirling wind making it difficult to control the ball and they will believe they can back up that success here although there will be at least one change to the 17 with Josh Bowden out with a head knock.

THE PREDICTION
Hull FC produced one of the more complete performances in Round 1 and they will prove difficult to beat if they can produce a similar display here. They took their chances when offered while defending well for the vast majority of the game until conceding two late tries when the game was already won against Huddersfield Giants. Salford Red Devils on the other hand were comfortably beaten by champions St. Helens and while they showed some good signs in that game, they have to improve over the course of the 80 minutes if they are to avoid another loss in this one. Both teams will believe they have enough to win in this matchup but it is FC that looked the better side last week and they should be able to back up their win by claiming another victory of at least six points or more.
