THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

  • Sydney Roosters made it back-to-back victories thanks to a superb success over Parramatta Eels last week but the Tricolours face an almighty task to make it three straight wins as they take on league leaders Penrith Panthers.
  • The Roosters are still not where they want to be in terms of their performances but will take a lot from last week’s effort, although it did come at a cost with Victor Radley and Sitili Tupouniua both ruled out of this contest through injury.

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Momirovski, Manu, Suaalii, Walker, Keary, Waerea-Hargreaves, Watson, Collins, Critchton, N. Butcher, Taukeiaho – Interchanges: Hutchison, Baker, Suluka-Fifita, May – Reserves: Lam, E. Butcher

Unavailable: Renouf Atoni, Sam Verrills, Victor Radley, Sitili Tupouniua

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers dominated for much of the game as they got the better of Melbourne Storm in their top of the ladder clash and the manner of that victory sets them up nicely for the challenges that lie ahead.
  • The Panthers controlled proceedings and never looked like losing as they laid down a real marker for the rest of the competition and the reigning premiers have the luxury of being able to name the same 17 that took to the field last week.

Starting 13: Edwards, May, Tago, S. Crichton, To’o, Luai, Cleary, Leota, Koroisau, Fisher-Harris, Kikau, Martin, Yeo – Interchanges: Kenny, Sorensen, Leniu, Salmon – Reserves: Staines, Smith

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters have put in a couple of improved performances to make it back-to-back wins but there is still more to do and this will not be an easy matchup for them. They host defending premiers Penrith Panthers with the away side coming into this having dismantled Melbourne Storm last week to bounce back from their first loss of the year in fine style. The Roosters will hope to continue their improvement here but they have some key outs and with the Panthers tending to up their game when facing the bigger teams in the league over the past few years, the premiers are favoured to prevail here to make it five straight wins over the Roosters and they can even cover the -9.5 handicap in the process.
