THE TEAM NEWS

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

  • St. George Illawarra Dragons were defeated by Gold Coast Titans in golden point last week as they suffered back-to-back losses and head coach Anthony Griffin will have been left extremely unhappy with his side.
  • The Dragons should have had the game sewn up but allowed the Titans to level late on and the manner of that defeat has resulted in several changes to the side with Michael Molo coming onto the bench for his debut while Cody Ramsey slots in at fullback with Moses Mbye reverting to hooker.

Starting 13: Ramsey, Mat. Feagai, Suli, Lomax, Ravalawa, Amone, B. Hunt, Lawrie, Mbye, F. Molo, Bird, Fuimaono, De Belin – Interchanges: Sullivan, Sims, Woods, M. Molo – Reserves: Moga, Kerr

Unavailable: Billy Burns, Jaydn Su’A, Andrew McCullough, Josh McGuire

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

  • New Zealand Warriors almost pulled off a remarkable comeback against South Sydney Rabbitohs but they fell agonisingly short as they suffered a fourth loss in their last five matches.
  • Trailing 32-6 early in the second half, the Warriors pulled the scores back to 32-30 but they could not find the extra score they needed to go ahead and that effort has resulted in few changes this week, although they will have to deal with the loss of Matt Lodge after he was granted an immediate release.

Starting 13: Walsh, Watene-Zelezniak, Vailea, Pompey, Montoya, Asi, Johnson, Fonua-Blake, Tevaga, Murdoch-Masila, Aitken, Harris, Murchie – Interchanges: Pene, Afoa, Lussick, Katoa – Reserves: Otukolo, Arthars

Unavailable: Bailey Sironen, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Josh Curran, Wayde Egan

THE PREDICTION

St. George Illawarra Dragons and New Zealand Warriors will both fancy their chances of coming out on top of this contest but they will need to improve on their recent efforts if they are to do so. The Dragons have lost their last two while the Warriors have managed just one win in their last five. The Warriors will come into this the happier of the two teams having pushed South Sydney Rabbitohs all the way last week thanks to an excellent second half fightback and if they can build on that performance, they can record their fifth win of the campaign.
