THE TEAM NEWS

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

  • St. George Illawarra Dragons shipped 40 points for the second week running as they were blown away by Cronulla Sharks in what was an alarming performance.
  • The Dragons were leading 8-6 before conceding 34 unanswered points which included 28 in the second half alone which has put Anthony Griffin’s position under further scrutiny but he has opted to retain the same 17 in his initial team list.

Starting 13: Sloan, Mat. Feagai, Suli, Lomax, Ravalawa, Sullivan, B. Hunt, F. Molo, Mbye, Lawrie, Murdoch-Manila, Su’a, Bird – Interchanges: Liddle, Musgrove, Couchman, Kerr – Reserves: M. Molo, Moga, J. Hunt, Amone, De Belin

Unavailable: Cody Ramsey (Illness)

DOLPHINS

  • The Dolphins lost the battle of Brisbane as they were downed by Brisbane Broncos in what was the expansion side’s first loss in the NRL.
  • Wayne Bennett’s side competed well but lacked quality when it mattered and there will be some pressure on the shoulders of Anthony Milford here as he retains his spot owing to Sean O’Sullivan’s pectoral injury, although he will be aided by the return of Isaiya Katoa.

Starting 13: Tabuai-Fidow, Isaako, Aitken, B. Lee, Bostock, Katoa, Milford, J. Bromwich, Marshall-King, Ese’ese, K. Bromwich, Lemuelu, Gilbert – Interchanges: Wallace, Nicholls, Stone, Teague – Reserves: Faamausili, Donoghoe, Collins, Nikorima, Jennings

Unavailable: Edrick Lee (Injured), Felise Kaufusi (Suspended), Tesi Niu (Injured), Sean O’Sullivan (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

St. George Illawarra Dragons suffered a second heavy loss in succession as they were beaten by Cronulla Sharks last week. The Dragons looked poor for large spells and simply could not get going in the second period. It will be a real worry for them and the Dolphins will look to capitalise on their woes. The away side were beaten for the first time in the NRL as they went down to Brisbane Broncos but they have a few important players on the sidelines and their depth will be tested. Points may be difficult to come by for both teams in this one and with that in mind, it could be worth backing this to be a low-scoring contest which produces under 42.5 points.
