THE TEAM NEWS
SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
- South Sydney Rabbitohs bounced back from their loss to Penrith Panthers as they got the better of St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and they will now be desperate to build on that effort by making it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
- The Bunnies were able to overcome the early loss of Latrell Mitchell to injury but they have received some bad news with the star fullback set to be absent for the next eight weeks with a hamstring issue which sees Blake Taaffe take the #1 jersey.
Starting 13: Taaffe, Johnston, Milne, Graham, Mansour, Walker, Ilias, Tatola, Cook, Burgess, Koloamatangi, Arrow, Murray – Interchanges: Sele, Host, Moale, Knight – Reserves: Havili, Tass, Mamouzelos, Kennar, Hawkins, Kalo Kalo, Paulo
Unavailable: Mark Nicholls, Latrell Mitchell
CANTERBURY BULLDOGS
- Canterbury Bulldogs’ losing run now stands at four matches thanks to going down to Penrith Panthers last week with their offensive problems continuing in that affair with the reigning premiers.
- With 12 points in that encounter, the Dogs are yet to surpass that total in any game so far this season but head coach Trent Barrett has opted to keep faith with Kyle Flanagan after he made a solid return to the side in last week’s contest while Matt Dufty also retains his place despite an underwhelming performance.
Starting 13: Dufty, Naden, Burns, Averillo, Addo-Carr, Burton, Flanagan, Thompson, Marshall-King, Vaughan, Waddell, Pangai Jnr., Jackson – Interchanges: Wakeham, Patolo, King, Stimson – Reserves: Biondi-Odo, Hoffman, Schoupp, Topine, Seumanufagai, Cook, Allan
Unavailable: Matt Doorey, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Paul Alamoti, Jack Hetherington
THE PREDICTION
South Sydney Rabbitohs got the job done against St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and will look to build on that effort. They overcame the injury of Latrell Mitchell early in that contest and while he will be missing for a sustained period, they will have the confidence in replacement Blake Taaffe to give them a spark at fullback as they aim to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Canterbury Bulldogs have it all to do to end their four-game losing streak with their issues evident on both sides of the ball. They have failed to score more than 12 points in any of their five games so far this season and with their opponents starting to look better in attack last week, the Bunnies should be able to cover the -9.5 handicap in this one.
