- Newcastle Knights produced their worst display of the season as they were nilled by Cronulla Sharks last week which made it back-to-back losses and they will be desperate to respond as they aim to put that disappointment behind them.
- The Knights could not get going in attack and asked very few questions of the Cronulla defensive line but with key man Kalyn Ponga carrying a knee injury into that game, there is hope that he will be closer to full fitness for this one which should significantly help his side.

- Reigning Dally M medallist Tom Trbojevic suffered a knee injury in that contest which is set to sideline the superstar fullback for at least the next four weeks with Des Hasler putting his faith in boom youngster Tolutau Koula to fill the void while Christian Tuipulotu will start at centre should Brad Parker not overcome a knock.

Manly Sea Eagles have struggled to deal with the absence of key man Tom Trbojevic in recent years and their ability to cope without him will be put under the microscope once again owing to the knee injury he picked up in his side’s victory over Canberra Raiders last week. Manly made it back-to-back successes with that victory while Newcastle Knights lost for the second week in succession as they were held without a point against Cronulla Sharks. It is hard to trust either side in this game owing to the Knights’ effort last week and Trbojevic’s injury but with all four of the Sea Eagles’ games producing under 40 points this season as well as three of four for the Knights, expect that figure to not to be reached in this contest.
