THE TEAM NEWS
GOLD COAST TITANS
- Gold Coast Titans were able to make an immediate return to winning ways in response to their capitulation against Canberra Raiders but it was far from a convincing performance as they edged Wests Tigers with a late try.
- In what was an extremely low-quality affair, the Titans snared the victory with the only try of the game in the closing stages but they will at least be content to have earned the win and are boosted by the return of Beau Fermor, Phillip Sami and Isaac Liu for this contest.
Starting 13: Isaako, Thompson, Sami, Herbert, Marzhew, Brimson, Sexton, Fotuaika, Clark, Liu, D. Fifita, Fermor, Fa’asuamaleaui – Interchanges: Smith, Wallace, Jolliffe, Proctor – Reserves: Turner, McIntyre, Lisone, Ese’ese, S. Fifita, Francis, Alick
Unavailable: Aaron Booth, Shallin Fuller, Joseph Vuna, Treymain Spry, Jayden Campbell, Brian Kelly, Esan Marsters
PARRAMATTA EELS
- Parramatta Eels showed their class in the second half of last week’s clash with St. George Illawarra Dragons as they ran out convincing victors to make it back-to-back wins.
- Leading by just four points at the break, the Eels scored 36 second half points as they hammered the Dragons and they also have the luxury of being able to recall Shaun Lane for this contest after he missed out through injury last week.
Starting 13: Gutherson, Blake, Penisini, Opacic, Simonsson, D. Brown, Moses, Campbell-Gillard, Mahoney, Paulo, Lane, Papali’i, N. Brown – Interchanges: Makatoa, Matterson, Kaufusi, Rein – Reserves: Cartwright, Greig, Perham, Loizou, Arthur, Niukore, Naiduki
Unavailable: Haze Dunster, Maika Sivo, Sean Russell, Ray Stone
THE PREDICTION
Gold Coast Titans got back to winning ways at the first time of asking last week but it was not a pretty contest as they edged Wests Tigers in a game that will not live long in the memory. The Titans scored the only try of the game to prevail in the dying stages of that contest but they will have to greatly improve if they are to get the better of Parramatta Eels in this matchup. The away side produced a brilliant second half display as they ran riot against St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and having performed so well in their last two outings, the Eels have to be favoured to win once again in this one which would make it seven successive victories over the Titans.
