THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, J. Morris, Manu, Ikuvalu, Lam, Walker, Waerea-Hargreaves, Marschke, Liu, Crichton, Tupouniua, Radley – Interchanges: Keighran, Suluka-Fifita, N. Butcher, Taukeiaho – Reserves: Whyte, Hau Tapuha, E. Butcher, Suaalii

Unavailable: Billy Smith (Injured), Boyd Cordner (Injured), Luke Keary (Injured), Freddy Lussick (Injured), Brett Morris (Injured), Lindsay Collins (Injured), Sam Verrills (Injured), Drew Hutchison (Injured)

  • Sydney Roosters’ injury toll caught up with them as they were beaten by Parramatta Eels last week but they showed enough to suggest that they can still compete for a top four spot this year.
  • They lost Victor Radley and Drew Hutchison in the first half of last week’s contest to join an already lengthy list of absentees and while Radley is listed to play here, he will still need to prove his fitness after failing his HIA.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

Starting 13: Holmes, Feldt, Bowen, Lemuelu, Taulagi, Drinkwater, Clifford, Hess, Robson, McLean, Wright, Dunn, Taumalolo – Interchanges: Granville, Burr, Molo, Condon – Reserves: Jensen, Asi, Gilbert, Bradley

Unavailable: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (Injured), Reuben Cotter (Injured), Justin O’Neill (Injured), Ben Hampton (Injured)

  • North Queensland Cowboys were able to bounce back from their loss to New Zealand Warriors by overcoming Queensland rivals Brisbane Broncos in a tense affair last week to make it four wins from five.
  • Valentine Holmes kicked a late field goal to seal the narrow victory and with their current run of form putting the Cowboys right in contention to make the finals, this is a brilliant test to see where they’re at as a team.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters were unable to make it three straight wins as they succumbed to Parramatta Eels last week but they will feel they can return to winning ways as they take on North Queensland Cowboys. They were guilty of spilling too much ball last week, particularly in their own half and that is something that they will have to improve on here. The Cowboys will arrive full of confidence having won for the fourth time in five matches last time out and while they can pose the Roosters some problems, the Tricolours should still have too much for them.
