- Sydney Roosters made it back-to-back wins in the NRL thanks to overcoming North Queensland Cowboys last week, largely thanks to an impressive second half showing.
- The Roosters will now look to make it three straight wins in order to keep their top four hopes alive and they will be boosted by the return of influential fullback James Tedesco after he was rested last week.
NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS
Starting 13: Ponga, Young, Mann, Tuala, Hunt, Clifford, Crossland, J. Saifiti, Brailey, D. Saifiti, Frizell, Barnett, Watson – Interchanges: Sue, King, Jones, Johns – Reserves: Hoy, Momoisea
Unavailable: Edrick Lee (Injured), Pasami Saulo (Injured), Bradman Best (Injured), Mitchell Pearce (Injured), David Klemmer (Injured)
- Newcastle Knights were unable to extend their winning run to three matches after being blown away by Melbourne Storm last week with that result harming their chances of making the top eight.
- The Knights went down 48-4 in that contest with the absence of Mitchell Pearce evident and with the halfback missing once again here, it could be a big ask for Newcastle to return to winning ways.
THE PREDICTION
Sydney Roosters are still hanging on in the race to make the top four
after recording a second successive victory last time out and a third
win in a row is on the cards for them here. They have won their last
three matches against Newcastle Knights and with their opponents missing
key man Mitchell Pearce, the Tricolours will be confident of success.
The Knights have struggled to create without Pearce in their side and
after a big loss to Melbourne Storm last week, another defeat by at
least a 12-point margin is likely here.
