- St. George Illawarra Dragons were unable to make it three straight wins as they were left to rue a poor second half showing against Manly Sea Eagles last week in which they blew a half-time lead.
- The Dragons performed relatively well in that opening period but could not match their efforts in the second having conceded 20 points to turn the game on its head and they will now be desperate to bounce back here to solidify their top eight spot.

- Gold Coast Titans served up another disappointing performance which saw them fail to live with Parramatta Eels last week and that defeat now makes it extremely tough for the Titans to break into the top eight.
- On the back of a superb win over Canberra Raiders in which they ran out 6-44 winners, the Titans failed to back that up and were kept scoreless for much of the encounter until two late consolation efforts.
THE PREDICTION
It is difficult to know what type of performance each of these two
will produce from week to week but after such a poor display last week,
the pressure is on Gold Coast Titans here. They have now lost five of
their last six and a season that promised so much looks to set to end in
serious disappointment with them sitting in 11th
spot ahead of this clash. They will still hope to chase down the teams
above them to finish in the top eight but they need to find greater
consistency, an issue that has also blighted St. George Illawarra
Dragons. However, they have won two of their last three and showed
enough in defeat to Manly Sea Eagles last week to suggest they can make
an immediate return to winning ways here.
