- Newcastle Knights put in a valiant display as they stayed in the game with leaders Penrith Panthers for a large period but they could not capitalise on their chances with the ball with the Panthers’ defence ultimately standing firm.
- The Knights were unable to back-up their win over Cronulla Sharks and that leaves them them with just one victory in their last five outings but a return to home soil could be beneficial for them having won two of their four matches at McDonald Jones Stadium so far this year.

- Sydney Roosters overcame the loss of James Tedesco to a head knock as they made an immediate return to winning ways with a comfortable success over St. George Illawarra Dragons on Anzac Day.
- Tedesco has been named to play here but is set to be ruled out as the Roosters take a cautious approach with one of their star men so all eyes will be on young gun Sam Walker once again after he produced another brilliant display last week.
THE PREDICTION
Newcastle Knights perform better on home soil than they do on the road but they still produced a solid display against Penrith Panthers last week. They will now look to build on that effort as they face another tough task as they host Sydney Roosters. The Tricolours look set to be without their entire first choice spine that they started the season with but Trent Robinson will still back his side to get the job done nonetheless. This should be an entertaining game with Kalyn Ponga likely to be integral to the Knights’ hopes and the attacking ability on both sides of the field should ensure that there are at least 42 points scored in this contest.
