- Manly Sea Eagles could not match Melbourne Storm last week as they suffered a setback in their quest to make the top four but having seen little of the ball in that contest, they will have been content to have stayed in the game for so long.
- The Sea Eagles were punished for coughing up the ball too often but they will be focused on putting that behind them as quickly as possible with this pivotal contest against a Parramatta Eels side that they will be looking to beat for the third time in succession.
PARRAMATTA EELS
Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Opacic, Blake, Oldfield, D. Brown, Moses, Papali’i, Lussick, Paulo, Lane, Matterson, N. Brown – Interchanges: Smith, Cartwright, Niukore, Makatoa – Reserves: Stone, Penisini, Dunster, Arthur
Unavailable: Nathaniel Roache (Injured), Wiremu Greig (Injured), Reagan Campbell-Gillard (Injured), Black Ferguson (Injured), Oregon Kaufusi (Injured), Reed Mahoney (Injured)
- Parramatta Eels are in real danger of undoing a season of good work after losing for the third game in succession last week with South Sydney Rabbitohs putting a big score on them and they now face another tough task.
- The Eels shipped 40 points last week while also struggling with ball in hand once again and their spot in the top four is now far from secure with Sydney Roosters and opponents Manly Sea Eagles within two points on the ladder.
THE PREDICTION
Manly Sea Eagles were beaten by in-form NRL leaders Melbourne Storm
last week but they showed enough character in that contest to suggest
that they will be in the mix come the finals. They also still harbour
hopes of making the top four with their chances still in their own hands
but this is a pivotal contest as they take on a Parramatta Eels side
that currently occupy the spot they are chasing. The Eels come into this
on the back of three successive losses and having won just one of their
last five having struggled on both sides of the ball, Parramatta’s
grasp on fourth spot is likely to be severely loosened here with Manly
able to prevail by 13+ points.
