- Canberra Raiders’ recent woes went from bad to worse as they blew an 18-point lead against North Queensland Cowboys to succumb to a third straight loss and the manner of that defeat will be of particular concern to Ricky Stuart.
- The Raiders were kept scoreless in the second half of that contest and having allowed the Cowboys to score 20 unanswered points, there is plenty of work for Stuart and his side to do ahead of this game as they aim to stop the rot.
SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
Starting 13: Walker, Johnston, Gagai, Graham, Paulo, Marshall, Reynolds, Burgess, Cook, Tatola, Koloamatangi, Su’A, Murray – Interchanges: Nicholls, Knight, Host, Arrow – Reserves: Marsters, Sele, Mago, Hawkins
Unavailable: Blake Taaffe (Injured), Taane Milne (Injured), Braidon Burns (Injured), Jed Cartwright (Injured), Brock Gardner (Injured), Latrell Mitchell (Suspended), Josh Mansour (Injured)
- South Sydney Rabbitohs were thankful to a vintage masterclass from veteran Benji Marshall as he produced some scintillating attacking play to help his side fight back and see off a spirited Gold Coast Titans outfit last week.
- The Rabbits found themselves 14 points down at half-time but guided by Marshall’s brilliance, they managed to overturn that deficit to come out on top of a 70-point thriller and make it six consecutive victories.
THE PREDICTION
Canberra Raiders were unable to stop the rot as they suffered a third straight loss last week and the manner of that defeat to North Queensland Cowboys leaves them with plenty of questions to answer. They surrendered an 18-point lead in that defeat and now face in-form South Sydney Rabbitohs who come into this contest with six successive wins behind them. They had to fight back to see off Gold Coast Titans last week and while they too have some improvements to make, particularly defensively, their recent form suggests that they should be too good for the struggling hosts who look set to suffer a fourth consecutive defeat.
