- Brisbane Broncos were comfortably beaten by Queensland rivals Gold Coast Titans last week with a couple of tries in the final 20 minutes doing little to hide what a disappointing display it was from Kevin Walters’ side.
- His wait for a maiden win in charge will reach a third week after the 28-16 reverse and it is now 13 straight losses for the Broncos who need to cut out the errors to give themselves a chance having made 30 so far in two games with only one other side in the league making more.

- Canterbury Bulldogs’ struggles continued in Round 2 as they were shutout by Penrith Panthers in a very poor display and their attacking woes of last season continued despite a new man at the helm and a new-look spine.
- The Bulldogs barely laid a glove on their opponents with the Panthers dictating play and that showed with Penrith managing 15 more sets than Canterbury which is unsustainable if they want to compete in matches.
THE PREDICTION
Despite it being such an early stage of the campaign, this already looks like a potentially pivotal clash in the race to avoid the wooden spoon as Brisbane Broncos host Canterbury Bulldogs. The bottom two on the ladder last season managed just three wins apiece and they have started this campaign poorly too. The Broncos’ confidence is at an all-time low having suffered 13 consecutive losses and while this is a great chance for them to break that streak, the pressure is on them. The Bulldogs must ask more questions with the ball but they are likely to be nervous too as they bid to get off the mark for the season and that could lead to an error-strewn game with under 42.5 points likely.
