- Canterbury Bulldogs hit back from their heavy loss against Manly Sea Eagles as they put in a much-improved performance to see off St. George Illawarra Dragons on Monday and they will need to build on that display as they face reigning premiers Sydney Roosters.
- The Bulldogs comfortably produced their best display of the season on both sides of the ball as they collected their first competition points of the campaign on the back of an 86% completion rate that resulted in the 22-2 success.
- This will be a stiff assignment for the Bulldogs to back that win up and they have been forced into a couple of changes with Kerrod Holland picking up an injury while Reimis Smith is banned with Christian Crichton coming onto the bench in place of Holland while Morgan Harper comes into the centres for Smith. In a further blow, Aiden Tolman is out of this re-arranged game despite testing negative for COVID-19 as he must quarantine.

- Sydney Roosters put in a sublime performance as the reigning premiers were at their clinical best in a ruthless demolition of Brisbane Broncos in Round 4 which saw them run in 59 unanswered points to make it back-to-back victories.
- The Roosters scored 10 tries in the rout in which they ran for 2,361 metres, over 1,200 more than the Broncos managed with the Tricolours producing some other impressive figures including 10 line breaks and 44 tackle breaks.
- James Tedesco missed last week’s clash after posting a high temperature before the team’s flight to Brisbane but he will return for this contest in place of Ryan Hall who drops out of the 17 while enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is a late withdrawal with a back injury so Sitili Tupouniua comes onto the bench.
THE PREDICTION
Canterbury Bulldogs put in a solid display to collect their first win of the NRL campaign last week but their joy may be short-lived as they come up against Sydney Roosters. The reigning premiers were in devastating form last week as they put Brisbane Broncos to the sword in a 59-point annihilation and they will be full of confidence ahead of this clash. The Roosters have won their last six meetings with the Bulldogs and although Canterbury showed up well last week, they should be on the end of a heavy loss with a 16-point start on the handicap unlikely to be enough for them.
