Roberto Carballes Baena’s poor record at Wimbledon continued as he lost in the first-round yet again. He transitioned back to clay as he dropped down to the Challenger Tour in Braunschweig to make the quarter-finals before retiring. The Spaniard’s best finish this season was a semi-final appearance in Marrakech on the ATP Tour in April at the beginning of the clay court season.
Carlos Taberner has picked up two titles on the Challenger Tour this season, with both occurring on clay. He’s been a very strong player on the Challenger circuit this season with two other semi-final appearances and has won 28 matches on clay.
