Raphael Collignon vs Luciano Darderi prediction

Raphael Collignon made his Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon in his most recent event but his inexperience on grass was exposed as he was outclassed by 2017 finalist Marin Cilic in the first-round. Nevertheless, the Belgian is likely to be far more comfortable on the clay and has already enjoyed success on the surface this season, having won in Monza three months ago.

He will take on Luciano Darderi in round one. The Italian will be heading into this one full of confidence after a third-round appearance at Wimbledon, his best ever run at a Grand Slam so far. He also has two clay court finals to his name during this campaign, losing in Naples but coming back a week later to win in Marrakech on the ATP Tour in early April.

Both are strong and effective players on clay but Darderi seems to be emerging as yet another strong Italian player on tour and will be the favourite to come through this one.
