LOS ANGELES RAMS
- Los Angeles Rams overcame some major disruption during their Wild Card clash with NFC West rivals Seattle Seahawks to book their spot in the Divisional Round but the Rams will have to be at their best defensively if they are to advance.
- The Rams lost backup QB John Wolford to a neck injury in the opening stages of the game which saw Jared Goff come in as he battled through the pain of a thumb injury which had seen him start on the bench.
- Despite not producing much on offense, the Rams’ defensive efforts proved to be enough and while they lost destructive DT Aaron Donald to a rib issue, they did enough to see off the Seahawks with Donald set to take to the field this week in what will be a huge boost for his team.
GREEN BAY PACKERS
- Green Bay Packers ensured that the NFC runs through Lambeau Field after finishing the regular season with a 13-3 record thanks to a victory over NFC North rivals Chicago Bears in Week 17.
- That was a sixth successive win for the Packers and they look to have the tools on both sides of the ball to make home advantage count, especially with QB Aaron Rodgers producing the type of performances that make him a real contender for the MVP award.
- WR Davante Adams has also produced some ridiculous numbers this season having amassed 18 TDs from 14 games but Green Bay will have to cope with the loss of LT David Bakhitari after he suffered a serious knee injury during practice in the lead up to the game with the Bears.
THE PREDICTION
Green Bay Packers have the obvious talent on their offense to pose any team problems but their improving defense will also play a role if they are to make it to the Super Bowl. They will firmly believe that they can limit the misfiring offense of the Los Angeles Rams in this Divisional Round matchup which should then allow Aaron Rodgers to go to work. He will target Davante Adams plenty, who will be involved in a real tussle with CB Jalen Ramsey in what is one of several mouth-watering matchups. If Adams can get the better of that duel, it will be a huge positive for the Packers who are likely to have to deal with an onslaught on the ground for the Rams. Green Bay’s run defense has wilted on several occasions this season and with rookie RB Cam Akers putting up some big numbers in recent matches, the Rams are likely to utilise their ground game as their issues through the air continue. However, the Packers defensive unit has also produced some eye-catching performances as the campaign progressed and in what is set to be a freezing cold Lambeau Field, Green Bay can utilise their home advantage and justify their #1 seed by progressing while also covering the -6.5 spread.
