THE TEAM NEWS
BALTIMORE RAVENS
- Baltimore Ravens continued their good run of form as they overcame AFC North rivals Tennessee Titans in their Wild Card matchup last week and they now come into this Divisional Round clash on the back of a six-match winning streak.
- In a low-scoring contest, the Ravens’ improving defense showed their class as they limited their opponents to just 13 points as QB Lamar Jackson put in a strong showing on the other side of the ball.
- He only threw for 179 yards but it was on the ground where he did the real damage as he ran for 136 yards with 48 of those coming on a TD just before half-time which ensured the two teams went in level and he was then able to guide his team to what was his first play-off success.
BUFFALO BILLS
- Buffalo Bills’ defense stood firm to prevent Indianapolis Colts from scoring on their final possession of a tense affair in last week’s Wild Card round but that performance will stand them in good stead ahead of another difficult tussle.
- The Bills have now won seven straight games after the 24-27 victory, although they will have to improve on that effort as they failed to put their opponents away and gave them a chance to make a comeback despite leading 10-24 at the start of the fourth quarter.
- There is only one injury concern for the Bills ahead of this clash with DE Darryl Johnson listed as questionable and having failed to practice all week with a knee injury, Buffalo will be concerned about his availability.
THE PREDICTION
Two in-form teams meet in this intriguing Divisional Round clash in the AFC as Baltimore Ravens travel to Buffalo Bills. The home team have won seven in a row while it is six in succession for the Ravens but something has to give here. A key component of this matchup is likely to be how Baltimore's defense performs after shutting down Tennessee Titans’ RB Derrick Henry last week. The Ravens have shown some ruthlessness of late and have allowed under 11 points per game on average in their past four matches. However, the Bills have averaged over 36 points per game across their last nine matchups which highlights the task for the road team here. Both teams are capable of coming out on top with both QBs capable of going through the air or taking it themselves on the ground which makes it a fascinating encounter. Home-field advantage could prove to be key here and while the Baltimore defense can go some way to limiting the Bills, Josh Allen can lead his side to victory here.
