KENAN SONG VS ROLANDO BEDOYA LOWDOWN
Kenan Song (19-7) has not won since February 2020. That was a classic first-round knockout over Callan Potter in Auckland, New Zealand. He returned a year later to fight Max Griffin (2021) and received a taste of his own medicine getting knocked out in the first. He then took two years out and was welcomed back by the prospect Ian Garry (2023) who poured on the misery inflicting his fourth knockout loss.
Now, he takes on Rolando Bedoya (14-2) who just got his 11-fight win streak snapped on debut. He was sitting proudly on a pile of dubs collected on the regional scene in South America and was welcomed to the octagon by Khaos Williams at UFC 288 back in May. It was a tough match-up for a debut but took the powerhouse to a split decision.
KENAN SONG VS ROLANDO BEDOYA PREDICTION
There is pressure on both fighters, especially Song. However, it could be a very different story if he went in for the kill after dropping Garry in their fight. He has one-punch knockout power with dangerous jiu-jitsu and he will be grateful he is not taking on a wrestler as his takedown defence is suspect at best.
Bedoya is also a very good striker who relies more on volume, movement and variety. He is the heavy favourite considering the form. However, taking into account his striking defence is not the best and Song hits like a truck, there is value on the China native.
That said, we feel if he can eat a shot from Williams, he can wear it from Song and we expect this to to go the bell. As Bedoya is the better technical striker, we are backing him to earn a decision with his leg kicks setting the tone.
